Hello Kitty, Hello Art! is a hardcover collectible book (9.5” x 11.5”) that is published by ABRAMS and features works of art inspired by Sanrio characters including the iconic Hello Kitty®as well as My Melody®, Keroppi®, Badtz-Maru®, Little Twin Stars®, and more. Inside its glossy cover, the book contains an impressive array of celebrated artists from around the globe, showcasing in both art and words the inspiring ways Hello Kitty and Sanrio have influenced both their work and personal lives. The book features over 200 color illustrations that infuse pop culture and street art, as well as a pull-out sheet of custom-designed tattoos. The book ($35) will be on sale at the event and on sanrio.com.

The art featured in this vibrant collector’s edition ranges from edgy to obscure to world-class adorable and everything in between. Hello Kitty, Hello Art! features artwork crafted using a variety of mediums including canvas, spray paint, watercolor and ink, aerosol and acrylic on wood, mixed media, oil on panel and silkscreen. While the artists featured in the book collaborated with Sanrio for Hello Kitty’s 35th anniversary celebration in 2009 and Sanrio’s 50th anniversary in 2010, a few have been invited to create new interpretations of Sanrio characters to celebrate the book launch.

Join Sanrio and featured artists from the book to celebrate the release of Hello Kitty, Hello Art! An afternoon of iconic art for Sanrio fans of all ages, Sunday’s agenda features a special artist signing event and specialty product releases set to the beat of DJs The Pastries. Limited-edition prints of specific pieces featured in the gallery show and book, as well as exclusive t-shirts from The Seventh Letter – the largest graffiti and street art collective in the world – will be available for sale. Guests are invited to have their book signed by Hello Kitty, Hello Art! artists who will be on-site to celebrate the book release with fans along with Sanrio’s ambassador of art Hello Kitty!

Sanrio fans and lovers of pop art alike will be treated to the newest collection of Sanrio-inspired works of art premiering at Known Gallery for the special one day pop-up event. The event will feature over thirty new paintings by graffiti artist POSE, custom chandeliers by Adam Wallacavage, a neon installation by RISK and new works by 64 Colors, AIKO, Caia Koopman, DABS MYLA, Kenton Parker, Niagara, Shepard Fairey and Simone Legno — all incorporating a rainbow of Sanrio characters.
