‘On The Daily’ is a solo exhibition of new paintings by Australian artist, Ian McCallum. With a background in sign writing and graffiti, his work is heavily influenced by typographic styles and painting processes. ‘On The Daily’ uses a playful combination of clean design and letter structure, mixed with messy textural forms found through a daily process of creating.
His work communicates directly through traditional lettering and indirectly with gestural colour and abstraction. Found elements, colour combinations and grit are reworked, distorted and magnified to draw attention to easily missed details and appealing accidents in our daily routine.
This one night only show opens Thursday, 2 March, 6:30 pm at Analogue Gallery in Brisbane.
