Watch: North Nights – Handstyling

We invited North Nights to the Ironlak Studio to get nasty with a stash of our Ironlak marker and paint products. With Strikers, Pump Actions, Oozie Mops, and Fluid Acrylics, to choose from, and a stack of paper on hand, the stage was set to let the paint and handstyles flow.

North Nights is a Brisbane-born and raised graffiti writer and handstyle enthusiast. Born to Filipino and Yugoslavian parents, he first tasted graffiti in all its wildstyle glory about ten years ago. Four years ago, he started to get more serious, honing his handstyle and calligraphy skills, and focussing just on letters in their purest form.

He pays respects to those who inspire him; Faust, Bacon, YesB, Kanser, BYE Crew, Soems, Sicoer, to name a few, and feels most inspired by friends around him that have the same passion and positive vibes that keep him writing and pushing.

“Handstyles to me are everything really. I actually starting piecing first. Mostly wildstyle letters. I was obsessed! Then when I actually first saw people do wildstyle tags, I was blown away.”

“For me, it’s all about progression.”
