SIRUM from Melbourne recently spent a week in Darwin for the 2019 edition of Darwin Street Art Festival. He recruited DEM189 and AKUZE for the jaunt, and together they got up to some extracurricular activities.
We’re breaking the flicks across two posts, along with some words from SIRUM about his affinity for the top end. Here goes part one.
“I went up to Darwin for the Darwin Street Art Festival this year and managed to rope in mates DEM189 and AKUSE for the trip. As I’m friends with half of Darwin, there are always good people and family to catch up with whenever I’m in the Top End. I always make time for Big Tikls and Uncl David.”
“I have been traveling up to Darwin for over a decade now. Being a lover of nature, I fell for the place immediately and I have been coming back ever since. Initially, I went up to visit a friend (for those who know – the legendary Bicepa) and now I call the place my second home. I have spent these past ten years forging a strong connection with Top End and Darwin region. Not only through work opportunities but on a spiritual and cultural level that runs deep with friends and fam never too far away, right across the NT.”
“Darwin is a special place, not quite a city yet far more than a large town, with strong community values and deep-rooted ties to local indigenous culture. It sits on a peninsula surrounded by ocean and tropical monsoon mangrove forests and is only a stone’s throw away from the famous Kakadu National Park, and its cousin Litchfield – which is equally as impressive. Darwin is the only city in Australia that I will never grow tired of.”
“Everyone needs to visit the Northern Territory Top End. CU-in the-NT!” –SIRUM ONE
