Silk Roy is a Melbourne-based abstract expressionist. Using paint, and a variety of tools, he pushes and pulls the paint across the surface, creating layers and forging his own blend of artistic compositions.
The gestural motions he uses to make his abstract paintings work are grounded in his graffiti beginnings, evolving over time to become something else entirely. “It’s just a different avenue of style.”
The artist recently visited Wollongong to paint a one and a half story mural inside the new Verb Syndicate space. Over a weekend he worked with our Ironlak Heavy Body Acrylic Paints and Lak spray paint to complete the large-scale piece.
See the mural in person at Verb Syndicate, 193 Crown Street, Wollongong, NSW. Grab some Laks while you’re in there.
