One of our early ambitions when embarking on our first Sydney store, Ironlak Art & Design, was to create a space that would inspire the art community and be a home for creativity. With this in mind, we wanted to leave room for a feature art wall. Mirroring our curved spray paint display at the front of the store, ‘The Circle’ is a semi-circle concrete surface which serves as a blank canvas to showcase a feature artist.
With the store finally open, and the launch party on the cards, we asked Mik Shida be the first artist to step inside ‘The Circle’ and add his magic touch. Working during the day and into the evening of our launch party, SHIDA used a combination of buff paint and Sugar Artists’ Acrylic aerosols for the base fills. To create his delicate line work, he tried out our new Ironlak Fluid water based acrylic paint. This paint is designed to be free flowing, so it worked great on his multi-line brush technique.
