Last night was the official opening party for the Outpost Project on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island and I was lucky enough to be able to attend.
It was remarkable to see 1000+ people at an event celebrating “art from the streets” in Sydney, a weird testament to how far graffiti art has come. I’ll share more images and thoughts on the project over the coming weeks as I float around the island but since last night was more about catching up with good people and having (too many) drinks, I thought I’d share my snaps of a few of the peeps I caught up with.
Stay tuned for the artwork photos.
Thanks to all the crew at Cockatoo Island for throwing a damn fine opening party.
We started at the Commissioner’s Steps Wharf – Circular Quay, of course we had to do our part to upset the boat staff with some harmless shenanigans.
Geoff Bailey, Executive Director of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust welcomes the crowd. Kinda crazy to have a big Ironlak logo up there alongside such massive brands.
Jimmy Bliggs (Grand Scheme), Alexa Nice and Marty, a man who wears many hats; be sure to check his latest project; Self EST.
Reka gets one up there.
Anthony Lister and Brett Chan.
I definitely enjoyed way too many Pipsqueaks. Tom Hobo demonstrates how I’d be feeling in the morning – he was right.
Joseph Allen of Gallery A.S. – Be sure to check Lister’s show which opens tonight at George Street, Sydney.
Carl A, videomaker extraordinaire getting his double drink on.
Meggs, Yimmy and Nummy.
Ben Frost and Co.
Sereck (Def Wish Cast) and Phibs.
The lovely Steph Gold of Cockatoo Island.
Lister gets so busy, he’s painted the walls of the OAF this week too.
Peace out.
