As Summer came to a close in Chicago we thought it best to see out the warmer months in style with an Ironlak BBQ Burners supported by the folks at Momentum Art Tech. They’ve given us the firsthand account below.
“We brought together a group of artists that are known for their traditional graffiti letters and style, who have had a lasting impact on Chicago, and who have never painted on the same wall at the same time all together.
Labor Day weekend was abnormally hot this year. We started painting early on Saturday morning and had about 300 people come to check out the live painting throughout the day. DJ Illanoiz and DJ Moz Def set up under the blue line tracks and spun old school hip hop jams all day. The train rolled past nearly every 5 minutes.
We had a grill set up with burgers and hotdogs feeding the masses throughout the afternoon. People from as far away as Cincinnati and Minneapolis showed up as well.
In the early evening, the low-rider bike crew, the Classic Cruisers, rolled through to show some support and take pictures with the nearly completed 258 ft. wall. Artists and friends also took breaks to check out the Stranger Things pop-up bar set up at the nearby Emporium Arcade. This event brought some of Chicago’s biggest legends of graffiti together to enjoy the weather and show off their skills.” -Momentum Art Tech.
