Graphotism is the world’s biggest, longest running and most influential graffiti art publication. Documenting the scene since 1990. Book format, 164 pages.
Issue 57 – featuring interviews with: EWOK (USA), SOFLES (AUSTRALIA), PANTONE (SPAIN) and NEMO (BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA). Plus the usual mix of Benchtalk news and reviews as well as a hoard of sick new flicks from around the world.
We are living in exciting times. The graffiti world is healthy as hell and there are huge projects going down in cities all over the world as well as solid painting popping up in the most obscure places. Documenting the current scene this time around has been super inspiring and incredible to be a part of. Every day new flicks were coming in literally straight after the productions were finished and this issue is filled with the freshest styles, the latest pieces, the most progressive writers and it covers scenes from all over the globe.
Featured in this, Graphotism issue 57, is MSK’s Ewok, from Los Angeles, with the most vivid colours palette, explosive style and killer consistency with every piece. Argentina-born, Spanishschooled and currently Leeds-based, Pant One comes in from out of left field with some crazy anti-style that is seriously pushing the concepts of graffiti. All the way from Brisbane, Australia is Sofles. His pieces are hard-hitting, his colours are electric and he’s got all the styles locked down. A total surprise this issue comes in the form of Nemo, a writer from Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He first learnt about graffiti while seeking political asylum in Germany during the civil war in the arly ’90s and now he rips Europe apart with his solid style and super-charged colourways. His feature is an eye-opener for sure. Graphotism 57 is a powerful reflection of the world of graffiti, a crazy mix of profound things and a true sign of the times. We hope it gets you psyched, or angry, or inspired or whatever it is that fuels you to do the most important part… go out and paint. –Graphotism Team
EWOK
Ewok’s style is 100% fluid and 100% solid at exactly the same time. Graphotism caught up with him during a short break from his usual crazy schedule to discuss inspirations, progression and his unquenchable passion for graffit.
SOFLES
Sofles is an Australian writer who’s global acclaim was confirmed last year when he was picked for the ‘Clash of the Titans’ world jam. He may stay modest about his talent we don’t intend to be. Check out one of Down Under’s fines.
PANTONE
Argentina-born, but Spain-schooled PantOne paints amazing, slick-looking pieces. He’s not overly hung-up on technique, over-polishing or cleanness of execution, but when required he can certainly flex the skills.
NEMO
Nemo is from a country far off the usual graffiti holiday destination radar. Most Inter-railers don’t stop in Bosnia and Herzegovina and your average Bosnian has more to worry about than burners and fat caps. This is his story…
