In February I jumped on a northbound flight and headed back to my hometown Townsville to participate in Cre8ive Sk8’s ‘End of the World’ jam.
Being that this is the city where I started my graffiti journey, I was pretty happy to get back up there and check in with the locals. Writers from all over North Queensland were in attendance so it was good to catch up with some old homies, and to make some new ones.
I arrived on the Friday before the jam, caught up with my family and then bounced out to meet up with my buddy KIDS. With a pub meal and a few beers under our belts, we were nearly ready to call it a night when VIX gave us a call and the evening evolved into some late-night shenanigans. At one point I remember trying to paint something and repeatedly sliding backwards down a small gravel hill – laughing hysterically.
So come jam day, I was wounded and the North QLD sun wasn’t doing me any favours. I spent most of the day trying to mark up my piece while avoiding the sun as much as possible. I was however stoked to paint next to VIX for the first time ever. I love the unique way he bends his ‘X’. He’s on some voodoo shit.
Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks to all the writers and a special shout out to Adolf from Cre8ive Sk8 for always being a massive supporter of the Townsville scene and myself personally. That dude is a champ. If you’re ever in TSV, make sure you stop by the shop. He’s always open. -Dymskov.
