Dingo – Behind Our Latest Limited Edition Artist Can

Our latest limited edition artist spray can goes a little deeper than you might realise at first glance. Featuring an oil painting of a dingo by Lee Harnden (aka LINZ) – this can was put together in remembrance of our dear friend Dean ‘Dingo’ Bax who recently passed away.

Dingo was originally introduced to the Ironlak team through Lak Fam alumni LINZ. He became a regular fixture at Ironlak staff events and Christmas parties, often showing up before us and running through the bar tab. He was always good for a yarn, and good for a laugh.

Over time he sparked a close friendship with Ironlak founder Levi Ramsey. Here’s some words from the boss:

“He was always there, especially in the early days of Ironlak to provide input, advice, and feedback when needed. He’s been described as a character, but more importantly a man of character.”

“I happened to come across this photo while backing up my computer last week, and it has a pretty funny story attached. We’d put a pig on a spit for our Christmas party a couple of years in a row, and Dingo would tag along to sink some beers and help cook the pig. I so vividly remember – when he was working up a thirst while carving – since his hands were tied up cutting the pig, he asked one of the boys to pour his beer directly into his mouth. Not happy with the level of hydration being achieved while sculling the beer he simply barked in his gruff style “Tip it steeper!”. One of those ‘you had to be there moments’, but it became a commonly quoted phrase around the office.”

“You’ll be sorely missed mate.” –Levi Ramsey

LINZ shares some thoughts about his mate Dingo:

“I first met Dingo many years ago, when I found myself in a little trouble with the law, and a friend referred me to him for legal help. Straight off the bat, we got along really well and we became great mates. Many a time we’d get on the piss and tell war stories, and I quickly learned that whenever you would drink with him you had to keep in mind, he didn’t have an ‘off’ switch, and would literally drink until he fell over.”

“I remember him as a genuine down-to-earth knockabout bloke who would do anything for his friends.  He’s greatly missed.” –Lee Harnden aka LINZ

So now when you see our cans of Roarke replaced with a can with a painting of a dingo on it, you’ll know the dealio.

Pour some out.
