Keep Australia Colourful is a campaign developed by graffiti artists and lovers of graffiti in response to the NSW State Government’s ‘Graffiti Action Day’. On
, the State Government plans to reduce graffiti by painting over as much as they can and encouraging community groups, schools and local businesses to get involved.
On the same day, we will be standing up for graffiti as a form of art and culture. The government wants to ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ by painting our streets, lanes and public spaces various shades of beige – but we want to Keep Australia Colourful!
It’s time that we stood up collectively for graffiti as a form of art, to dispel the myth that graf = crime, and to show how our city could look if there were more places for artists to create pieces legally.
