Welcome to a spot on ironlak.com called ‘Your Favourite Writer’s Favourite Writers’. The concept is super simple – we’re talking to some of the best in the game and asking them to list writers or artists who they consider some of their favourites.
After a hat-tip from KEMS in his YFWFW, this week we pass the baton to SP ONE, from New York City, to share his favourite writers with us.
As KEMS put it: “SP ONE embodies timeless graffiti from the simplest handstyle to technical pieces.”
Here’s his list of heavy hitters:
MITCH 77
“One of the best to do it. This particular piece was super influential to me when I first started writing. He should not be overlooked in the pantheon of graffiti history. This piece stills burns today.”
REAS
“Also one of the best to do it in my opinion. Tags, throws, characters, and pieces are all top notch. Maybe the most influential writer of his era.”
PYTHON
“Killer in black books and killer on walls. He could really articulate black book drawings onto walls and was an inspiration early on.”
DERO
“Just plain nasty with letters. He did some of the best panel pieces ever done on the MTA. And he still got it.”
KP
“One of the most original throw-ups in the game then and now. WR crew crushed transit inside and out.”
