HEAVY ARTILLERY | Bratislava, Slovakia – Part 1.

Here’s an interesting report from AROE on a recent HA trip to Slovakia. More flicks to come..

“A few of the Artillery guys and some other well known faces were hired to do a jam in the Slovakian capital…

“This is a fully functioning warehouse that we painted, to be honest it looks like some Eastern bloc death centre. I must impress upon you all, people still work here..

“The entrance to ‘Our’ apartment heavily influenced by Hostel crossed with a Russian mental hospital. The hapless inhabitants of this rago spot were – GARY, STORM, SOBEK, KCIS, DEMS, SEMOR and my good self.

“Throw ups are nice..

“Along with the copious amounts of throw ups we did GARY decided to show everyone why he is the inhuman spirit level and dropped this HEAVY ARTILLERY spell out across a crusty unprimed building. No mistakes allowed..

“In stark contrast to GARY’s super clean abilities, my painting in Bratislava wasn’t quite as neat and certainly not something you’d want anywhere near a floor that mattered.” -Aroe.

GRAFFITI vs CANCER – Bratislava, Slovakia, 10th – 15th October, 2011.

Taking place in the town of Bratislava and nearby Cvernovky in Slovakia, GRAFFITI vs CANCER is a fundraising and awareness week that features the thematic painting of a wall nearly 70metre in length. The week-long venture commences on Monday 8th of October.

“It was a spontaneous idea. We combine our graffiti as our hobby with something useful that would help people in need,” chief organizer Sofiane Zina said. “We were inspired by similar events organized in the USA, where the yield of a hard-core folk concert supported the fight against leukemia. We believe the Slovakian people will be attracted to the idea of linking the possibility of graffiti art and cultural activities with the help of people suffering from this insidious disease. It is also our aim to raise public awareness about the importance of cancer prevention among the young generation,” Zina says, whose vision is to organize similar charity events regularly, at least once a year.

Graffiti artists from Slovakia, the UK, Germany, Spain, Austria and Denmark will paint the wall between 10 am and 8 pm, which will become more and more beautiful throughout the week.

The charity event will take place through cultural events in the area of Cvernovky. On Friday, October 15 at 12.00 am the area will open its gates to the hip-hop market, which will sell clothing, music media, graffiti and other necessary accessories associated with hip-hop-axis cultures and lifestyles. The charity project will culminate in a Friday, 15.10 about 8 pm a benefit concert, which will perform in the Czech and Slovak hip-hop and rap crews, among others performing will be Indy and Which, Kruscifix, DNA and Boy Wonder featuring DJ Spank.

A 100% yield from the input to both the movement and actions during the ongoing collection of wall painting will be donated for charity collections.

The official completion of the project will take place on Sunday 16 October also in Cvernovke through lectures, photo presentation and interpretation over the project as well as the transfer agent collected benefit Wispers of hope.

Tickets will be sold at the gate.
Admission:
hip-hop market: € 3
charity rap concert: € 10.

If you wish to support the project GRAFFITI vs. CANCER they can do so by sending monies to the event’s account number 2613947116/1100, or if you wish to promote directly through Wispers of Hope, you may do so by sending cash to their account, number: 262/1100 262 0756
